Christopher Meloni says goodbye to Elliot Stabler; official end of “Law & Order: Organized Crime”

According to the CinemaDrame News Agency, Christopher Meloni—who became one of television’s most iconic figures through his portrayal of Detective Elliot Stabler since 1999—has officially said farewell to the beloved character. This comes after the confirmed cancellation of Law & Order: Organized Crime following its fifth season. Although Meloni may still appear as a guest star in the original series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (SVU), the cancellation of the spin-off marks the end of his full-time role as Stabler.

In a video posted on his Instagram account, Meloni thanked the show’s many fans and said: “I heard that Organized Crime will not be returning. I wanted to take this opportunity to thank the fans who gave life and continuity to Elliot Stabler and welcomed him back after his return. It was an incredible time.” He added that playing the role had been deeply rewarding and had given him a career he never could have imagined.

Christopher Meloni starred alongside Mariska Hargitay in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit from 1999 to 2011. After a long hiatus, he returned to the franchise in 2021 to lead his own spin-off, Organized Crime. The series ran for four seasons on NBC, and its fifth season moved to the streaming platform Peacock in 2025. While the future of the main Law & Order series remains uncertain, fans can still look forward to the 28th season of SVU, set to premiere this fall.
